The incident began with the Fallons, both wearing medical masks, threatening a teller at the Chelsea Groton Bank in Groton and fleeing with stolen cash.
After a six-hour search, the father and son were located at a Super 8 Motel, where they barricaded themselves and claimed to be armed with firearms and explosives. Despite negotiations, the situation escalated, leading to gunshots being heard from inside the motel room.
Law enforcement teams, including a bomb squad, eventually gained entry to the room and found both suspects incapacitated from gunshot wounds. Zachary Fallon was pronounced dead at the scene, while Shaun Fallon succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalized for several days.
Authorities confirmed that no explosives were found in the room, and the exact cause of death for the Fallons will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
