Twelve former FBI agents are suing the Bureau and its director for unlawful retaliation after being fired for taking a knee during racial justice protests in 2020. The agents, with nearly 200 years of combined experience, allege they were not equipped or trained for crowd control during the protests.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court, accuses the FBI of targeting the agents for political reasons and violating their First and Fifth Amendment rights. The fired agents are seeking reinstatement and back pay.

The FBI has declined to comment on the pending litigation.
