The FBI universe underwent a major shakeup at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 TV season, but how did the flagship series, FBI, fare in the midst of these changes?
CBS surprised fans with the announcement in March that FBI spinoffs, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, were cancelled before their season 4 and season 6 finales, respectively.
Despite the cancellations of the spinoffs, FBI was renewed for another season. However, the season 7 finale in May left viewers with numerous unanswered questions. One pressing query was whether Special Agent Stuart Scola’s (John Boyd) new partner, Dani Rhodes (Emily Alabi), would survive the season after Scola lost his previous partners.
The season finale also ended with a cliffhanger involving SAC Isobel Castille (Alana De La Garza). Following a bomb explosion at 26 Fed in New York City, Isobel was initially thought to be among the casualties. Although she survived, her injuries resurfaced as the team uncovered a case involving corrupt FBI agents allowing a terrorist group to infiltrate their ranks.
Isobel collapsed during the final moments of the episode, leaving fans in suspense about her fate for season 8.
Here’s a breakdown of which FBI stars are confirmed to return for season 8:
Missy Peregrym
Peregrym’s character, Maggie Bell, faced multiple near-death experiences in season 7 but emerged unscathed in the finale. While Peregrym has not confirmed her return for season 8, her longstanding presence on the show suggests she will likely continue to be a crucial part of the cast.
Zeeko Zaki
Zaki, who plays Special Agent OA Zidan, safely navigated through the season 7 finale. While his return is not confirmed, his enthusiasm for the role indicates he may be back for season 8.
Alana De La Garza
De La Garza’s character, Isobel, faced uncertainty after collapsing in the season 7 finale. The actress teased a potential return but kept details vague, hinting at an exciting storyline ahead.
Jeremy Sisto
Sisto, portraying ASAC Jubal Valentine, expressed hope for Isobel’s survival in season 8. His commitment to the show suggests he will be back for the upcoming season.
John Boyd
Boyd’s return as Scola is expected, with reports suggesting he will have a new partner in season 8.
Emily Alabi
Alabi joined the cast as Dani Rhodes in season 7 but will only appear in one episode of season 8 to wrap up her character’s storyline.
Juliana Aidén Martinez
Martinez will replace Alabi as the newest agent at 26 Fed for season 8, transitioning from her role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Shantel VanSanten
VanSanten, who played Special Agent Nina Chase, has the potential to return to FBI after the conclusion of FBI: Most Wanted. Fans are hopeful for the continuation of Nina and Scola’s storyline.
FBI season 8 is set to premiere on CBS on Monday, October 13, at 9 p.m. ET.
