Chairman of FCC Supports Trump’s Call for Seth Meyers to be Fired from NBC
Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC, recently echoed Donald Trump’s demand for Seth Meyers to be fired from NBC after the late-night host repeatedly targeted the former president in his monologues.
Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to express his views, stating, “NBCâs Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his âshowâ is a Ratings DISASTER. Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”
Over the past week, Meyers has targeted Trump in his comedic routines, poking fun at various aspects of his presidency including health care plans, government shutdowns, and controversies surrounding Jeffrey Epstein files.
Following Trump’s post, Carr reposted the message on his X account, indicating his support for the president’s stance on Meyers.
While Carr refrained from making any direct comments, his public endorsement of Trump’s call for NBC to terminate the late-night host is noteworthy, especially in light of his previous actions against Jimmy Kimmel on ABC.
In a podcast appearance with Benny Johnson on Sept. 17, Carr hinted at potential FCC intervention, stating, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or thereâs going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
Following Carr’s remarks, Nexstar and Sinclair, two major broadcasting stations, pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from their affiliate groups, leading to the show’s indefinite suspension on ABC. However, the show returned to air on Sept. 23.
