Federal Charges Filed Against Three Men for Far South Side Carjacking

Three men have been hit with federal carjacking charges for an incident that took place on the evening of November 3, 2022, on the Far South Side of Chicago. Marquell Davis, Ramone Bradley, and Edmund Singleton are already facing state carjacking charges for the same crimes.

According to federal prosecutors, the trio drove a stolen Jeep SRT into a gas station in the 10000 block of South Michigan where they targeted a 43-year-old man fueling his Infiniti. Davis brandished a handgun, demanded the victim’s keys, and fled in the Infiniti with an accomplice driving the vehicle while the Jeep followed.

Later that evening, the same stolen Jeep was seen at a gas station in the 3100 block of South Michigan, where Davis and Singleton attempted to carjack a 44-year-old man in a BMW. However, they were unsuccessful as Davis struggled to operate the vehicle due to specialized features designed for the victim’s disability.

Law enforcement officers located the stolen Jeep with the help of a Chicago police helicopter and arrested Davis with incriminating evidence, including the second victim’s ID, a loaded handgun, and suspected ecstasy pills in his possession. Singleton, who was on federal supervised release for a previous firearms offense, also faces serious charges.

If convicted, Bradley could face a maximum sentence of 30 years, while Davis and Singleton face mandatory sentences ranging from 7 years to life. The case highlights the ongoing issue of carjackings in Chicago and the efforts of law enforcement to combat this criminal activity.
