A violent altercation took place at a Queens subway station last week, leaving a 49-year-old woman injured after being attacked by a female stranger. The incident occurred during the morning rush at the 30th Avenue N train station in Astoria.

According to sources, the victim was attempting to exit the station around 9:45 a.m. on January 13 when she encountered another woman. As they both tried to navigate around each other, tensions rose, leading to a verbal argument.

The situation escalated quickly when the assailant forcefully pushed the victim from behind, proceeded to punch and choke her, and eventually pushed her to the ground before kicking her in the head. The attacker then fled the scene and remains at large.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Queens hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and listed in stable condition. The NYPD released images of the suspect, describing her as a woman with a dark complexion who was last seen wearing a black jacket, yellow sweater, and blue pants.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online at the CrimeStoppers website or via the @NYPDTips Twitter account.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings, especially in crowded public spaces like subway stations. It also highlights the need for swift action in apprehending those responsible for violent acts in the community.
