Zendaya described filming “Euphoria” Season 3 as a “whirlwind” experience.
“I accomplished what usually takes eight months in just four,” she mentioned on Tuesday night at the premiere of her new film “The Drama” at the DGA. “It felt like trying to fit eight episodes in all at once. It went by so quickly.”
Zendaya, who has won two Emmys for her portrayal of Rue in the series, noted she has “seen a little bit” of the upcoming season. “I’m excited,” she expressed. “I hope it turns out beautifully.”
Apart from “The Drama” and “Euphoria,” both releasing this year, she will also appear in “Dune: Part Three,” the latest “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” and Christopher Nolan’s epic fantasy action film “The Odyssey.”
The first trailer for “Euphoria” Season 3 was released in January, with its premiere scheduled for April 12 on HBO and HBO Max.
Returning cast members alongside Zendaya include Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, the late Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo, and Dominic Fike. Former cast members Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Javon “Wanna” Walton, and Austin Abrams will not return for the new season. Angus Cloud, known for his role as Fezco, passed away at 25 in July 2023.
The new season leaps forward five years, showing Cassie (Sweeney) and Nate (Elordi) married and residing in the suburbs, while Rue lives in Mexico, working to settle her debt with drug dealer Laurie (Kelly). Levinson had previously disclosed that Jules (Schafer) is attending art school and Maddy (Demie) is employed at a talent agency in Hollywood.
Elordi offered a glimpse into the new season in October. “It was incredible, man,” he shared at the Academy Museum Gala. “It was incredibly liberating. I got to play something so sort of far out from what I’ve done before.”
He praised series creator Sam Levinson for creating something “incredibly clever and cinematic,” adding, “I think people are really going to like it.”
Elordi admitted he wasn’t fully aware of everything happening in Season 3. “Everybody shoots at different storylines,” he said. “I don’t know what anyone else is doing. I had a really singular storyline. You don’t know what the other storylines are. It’s like FBI files. So it’s great because I’ll get to consume the show the same way that everybody else does as a fan, which I haven’t been able to do before. I’m really excited.”
New faces in the season include Sharon Stone, RosalĂa, Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, and Marshawn Lynch.
