Critical Fire Danger Forecasted for Northern Colorado
Abnormal heat continues to grip Colorado, with a forecast for critical fire danger in northern Colorado on Monday. The National Weather Service predicts gusty winds up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 13%, increasing the risk of wildfires, especially near the Colorado-Wyoming border.
Red flag warnings will be in effect for parts of Larimer, Weld, Teller, Fremont, Pueblo, Huerfano, and Las Animas counties on Monday. The weather service advises against outdoor burning and any activities that may spark a wildfire.
Record and near-record temperatures are expected across the state on Monday, with highs ranging from 42 to 72 degrees in various locations. However, relief is on the way as snow is forecasted to return to the mountains on Tuesday and continue into Saturday. Lower elevations may also see a chance of rain and snow during this time.
The weather service’s snow forecasts for the next three days predict snowfall ranging from 1/2 inch to 11 inches in various mountain passes and ski areas. The strongest chance for winter weather is between Wednesday night and Thursday evening.
