President Trump’s recent decision to reinstate a 25% tariff on steel imports and increase the tariff to 25% on aluminum imports has garnered widespread support from industry leaders, unions, and lawmakers across the nation.

Philip K. Bell, President of the Steel Manufacturers Association, praised the move as a way to level the playing field for American manufacturers and workers, who have been adversely affected by unfair trade practices from countries like China.

David McCall, President of the United Steelworkers, also commended the President’s efforts to combat global overcapacity and protect American workers from surging imports.

Charles Johnson, President of the Aluminum Association, expressed gratitude for President Trump’s focus on supporting the aluminum industry in the United States, highlighting the need for a stronger domestic supply chain.

Kevin Dempsey, President of the American Iron and Steel Institute, emphasized the importance of implementing a robust trade agenda to address foreign market-distorting policies and practices.

Mark Duffy, President of the American Primary Aluminum Association, called President Trump’s actions a great day for the U.S. aluminum industry, noting that unfair trade practices have devastated the domestic aluminum sector.

Zach Mottl, Chairman of the Coalition for a Prosperous America, hailed the decision to implement global tariffs as a critical step towards restoring stability to American industry and safeguarding domestic production.

Leon Topalian, President of Nucor Corporation, commended the President for re-imposing tariffs on all steel imports to protect the American steel industry from global overcapacity and illegal dumping.

Bret Manley, Executive Director of the Energy Fair Trade Coalition, lauded President Trump’s leadership in strengthening the steel and aluminum industry, emphasizing the importance of fair reciprocal trade practices.

The move is seen as a way to promote fair trade practices and ensure a stronger economy for the United States.
