This Christmas, Embrace the True Spirit of Giving
“This holiday season, let us all wish for the greatest gift of all—love. It outlasts the reach of Santa’s sleigh and even the speed of America’s Ospreys,” asserted First Lady Melania Trump.
In a festive display, Mrs. Trump made a grand entrance to Marine Corps Base Quantico, accompanied by Santa Claus aboard a V-22 Osprey. The event, which delighted United States Marines, volunteers, and military families, continued the cherished 75-year legacy of Toys for Tots, spreading holiday joy to millions of children nationwide.
In her address, the First Lady celebrated the bravery and resilience of military children, stating, “You embody the spirit of today’s festivities.” She spoke to hundreds of children in a beautifully adorned historic hangar, participated in toy distribution, visited various activity stations, and spent quality time with families of servicemen and women stationed both domestically and overseas.
Mrs. Trump wrapped up her visit by wishing military families a Merry Christmas and expressing the nation’s heartfelt appreciation for their strength, generosity, and unwavering patriotism.
Full Remarks of First Lady Melania Trump
Thank you, General Anderson. It is truly a pleasure to be here with all of you at Marine Corps Base Quantico.
You may be curious about why Santa chose to ride on my Osprey today. Well, this festive journey is brimming with Christmas magic and love.
Santa’s sleigh and his reindeer—like Rudolph, Dasher, and Comet—are currently recharging at the North Pole, preparing for their monumental journey on Christmas Eve. Santa shared that they are bundled up under cozy blankets, sipping on candy-cane cocoa, and soaking in the love that will soon be shared with wonderful children everywhere.
So, while his sleigh rests safely, Santa hopped into my Osprey and couldn’t stop grinning. I watched as he gazed out at the beautiful American families below, remarking that the Osprey glided through the sky like an enormous snowflake—yet it flies significantly faster than his sleigh ever could.
Today, we gather to celebrate one of the most cherished traditions of the holiday season: Toys for Tots, organized by the United States Marine Corps Reserves. For over 75 years, Marines and volunteers nationwide have collected and delivered new toys to children needing a little extra joy during Christmas. Each gift is wrapped with love and care.
To everyone present at Quantico, and to all who support the Toys for Tots Foundation, thank you. This includes the generous contributions from the Toy Association. I am sincerely grateful for your partnership and commitment to fostering fun and creativity. You help to bring the joy of Christmas morning to millions, reminding us that among American traditions, kindness and love are the most profound.
To military families: you are the heart of today’s celebration. Your strength in adversity serves as an inspiration. Some children here today have a parent away from home. I understand that can be challenging. On behalf of our nation, thank you.
And to the parents and guardians here today: your support and resilience empower our Marines to serve with honor and distinction. Whether they are near or far, you brighten every occasion, enriching the lives around you.
This Christmas season, may you, your friends, and your families wish for the ultimate gift—love. After all, love travels further than Santa’s sleigh and America’s Ospreys.
Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
