Authorities have identified the individual responsible for setting fire to the Pennsylvania Governor’s residence early Sunday morning.
The suspect, 38-year-old Cody Balmer, resides in close proximity to the governor’s mansion and was apprehended shortly after the incident.
In a rather poignant twist of fate, Balmer chose to ignite the flames during Passover—a holiday of significance for Governor Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish.
According to Times Now, police disclosed that Balmer managed to scale fences and elude state troopers as he ignited the blaze.
He was arrested in the Harrisburg area, mere moments after Governor Shapiro and his family were safely evacuated. Dauphin County District Attorney Francis Chardo announced that charges against Balmer will likely include attempted murder, terrorism, attempted arson, and aggravated assault against an identified individual. As of now, authorities have withheld Balmer’s photograph.
Speculation suggests Balmer may have been driven by frustration over the government seizing and auctioning his property.

The devastation inflicted upon the governor’s residence is significant, with reports indicating that remnants of the Passover dinner hosted by the Shapiro family were visible in the aftermath.

While we refrain from publishing images of the alleged arsonist until verification is complete, the situation remains precarious.

A Facebook page belonging to Cody Balmer remains active, showcasing a photo of him brandishing a firearm. This aligns with another image where he wears the same shirt, establishing a connection to the individual in question.
