Nearly a Dozen Firefighters Fired and Four Facing Charges After Violent Hazing Incident

A shocking incident unfolded at Marion County Fire Rescue’s Fire Station 21 in Florida, where nearly a dozen firefighters and paramedics were terminated from their positions. Four individuals are now facing criminal charges following a violent hazing incident involving a 19-year-old rookie firefighter.

The young firefighter recounted being hazed during his second shift at the station on November 26, where he was subjected to physical abuse in an attempt to unlock his phone and watch a viral TikTok video. The situation escalated when his colleagues forcibly removed his clothing and began striking him with a belt, before dragging him through the parking lot and waterboarding him multiple times.

According to Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods, the perpetrators went beyond acceptable boundaries by inflicting harm and humiliation on the rookie firefighter. The victim expressed his distress during investigative interviews, detailing the traumatic experience he endured.

The investigation conducted by FOX 35 Orlando revealed disturbing details of the attack, shedding light on the criminal behavior of the individuals involved. The severity of the incident led to the termination of ten employees, including senior leadership at the fire station.

Despite the trauma he experienced, the 19-year-old firefighter has returned to duty to serve the community. Meanwhile, the individuals charged in the incident, including Tate Trauthwein, Edward Kenny, Seth Day, and Kaylee Bradley, are facing serious legal consequences for their actions.

As investigations by the fire department and sheriff’s office continue, further actions will be taken to address any policy violations and hold those accountable for their misconduct.

The aftermath of this hazing incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding integrity and respect within emergency service organizations.
