Florida Mom Allegedly Stabs 12-Year-Old Daughter in Face and Neck
A disturbing incident unfolded in Florida when a 35-year-old mother, Gwendolyn Girard, reportedly stabbed her 12-year-old daughter in the face and neck at Cecil Webb Wildlife Management Area in Punta Gorda. Girard then left the injured girl hidden under brush at the nature preserve, despite the child still being alive, as per the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The young victim was fortunately discovered by passersby and was found to be in stable condition, despite the traumatic ordeal. Girard fled the scene in a gold-colored van but was later apprehended by authorities in North Fort Myers, approximately 22 miles away from the nature preserve.
Upon investigation, Girard allegedly confessed to the attack and revealed the location of the weapon used in the assault. She has been charged with aggravated battery and aggravated child abuse and is currently held at Lee County Jail.
Sheriff Bill Prummell expressed shock and disbelief at the heinous act, stating, “To attack a child with a knife … I can’t understand it. It is only by God’s grace that she is still with us today, and I pray for her as she heals from this horrific accident. Unfortunately, the mental trauma inflicted on her may never heal.”
This harrowing incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of children and the need for vigilance in safeguarding their well-being.
