An 81-year-old Florida woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to hire someone to commit murder. Elouise Ruth Leland, from Hernando, was taken into custody after detectives received information about her plans to orchestrate a killing, as per a news release from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon receiving the tip, detectives initiated an investigation and set up a meeting between Leland and an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a hitman. During the meeting, Leland discussed the specifics of the alleged plan and agreed to provide payment in exchange for the murder. Subsequently, detectives obtained a warrant and arrested her without any complications.

Leland has been charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and is currently detained at the Citrus County Detention Facility without bond. Authorities have confirmed that no other individuals were involved in the plot and that there is no threat to the intended victim.
