Remembering Anne Burrell: A Culinary Icon

Anne Burrell, the beloved former restaurant chef known for hosting the Food Network’s “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef” and co-hosting “Worst Cooks in America,” passed away in Brooklyn at the age of 55. Her contribution to the culinary world and her vibrant personality touched the lives of many.

The Food Network expressed their condolences, stating, “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing, and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring.”

A familiar face on television, Burrell co-hosted “Worst Cooks in America” from 2010 to 2024, captivating audiences with her expertise and charm.

Burrell’s culinary journey included being one of the Iron Chefs and competing in prestigious culinary competitions. Her experience as a sous-chef to Mario Batali on “The Next Iron Chef Super Chefs” showcased her talent and passion for cooking.

Burrell’s impact extended beyond television, as she authored cookbooks, hosted her own series, and advocated for important causes such as juvenile diabetes awareness and food insecurity through organizations like the Garden of Dreams Foundation and City Harvest.

With a culinary background that included training at the Culinary Institute of America and working in Italy, Burrell’s dedication to her craft was unwavering. Her restaurant, Phil & Anne’s Good Time Lounge in Brooklyn, was a testament to her love for food and hospitality.

Anne Burrell’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, the dishes she created, and the passion she shared with the world. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and fans.
