Carolina Sarria, a Colombian native, made waves in September 2020 when she graced the cover of Vogue Italia’s September issue alongside the likes of Bella Hadid and Cindy Crawford. Hailing from Cali, Colombia, Sarria moved to New York in 2000 to pursue a career in fashion design. Over the years, she dabbled in various artistic disciplines such as collage, painting, sculpture, and street art, expanding her work beyond traditional fashion design.
The COVID-19 pandemic marked a turning point for Sarria, prompting her to explore new avenues for showcasing her creativity. One such venture was a fashion show hosted on Animal Crossing, a popular Nintendo Switch game that gained immense popularity during the pandemic. This unique approach to presenting her work garnered widespread attention and acclaim.
Sarria’s innovative spirit continued to shine through in her spring 2025 collection, now available at Dover Street Market globally. Using augmented reality technology, Sarria created a series of wheatpaste posters that come to life when scanned, featuring animated models wearing her designs. This interactive and immersive experience underscores Sarria’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion presentation.
While Sarria’s work often blurs the lines between the digital and physical worlds, she also maintains a strong connection to her roots. In 2016, she opened a boutique and atelier in New York’s Lower East Side, merging her design work with her studio practice. This holistic approach allows Sarria to infuse her collections with artistry and creativity, drawing inspiration from her diverse experiences as a queer Latina artist in New York City.

For her spring 2025 lineup, Sarria drew inspiration from the circus as a “meeting space for outsiders,” infusing classic silhouettes with her unique artistic vision.
