Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, with the incidents allegedly taking place between 2021 and 2022, according to the Metropolitan Police. The investigation into the footballer began in February of the latter year after the police received a report of rape.
The charges against Partey involve three counts of rape on one woman, two counts on another, and an additional charge of sexual assault on a third woman. Partey’s lawyer stated that he denies all the charges and “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, leading the investigation, emphasized the priority of providing support to the women who have come forward. He urged anyone with information related to the case to contact the investigative team via email at CIT@met.police.uk.
Partey’s association with Arsenal came to an end following the expiration of his contract, which he signed after transferring from Atletico Madrid in October 2020. The Ghanaian international had made 167 appearances for Arsenal during his five-year tenure with the club.
The footballer is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5. His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, reiterated Partey’s denial of the charges and his full cooperation with the police and CPS during the three-year investigation. Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, Partey is unable to provide further comments at this time.
Jaswant Narwal of the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the authorization of prosecution against Partey for multiple counts of rape after a thorough review of the evidence. The CPS worked closely with the Metropolitan Police to determine the appropriate charges, emphasizing the importance of a fair trial and urging the public not to engage in any activities that could prejudice the proceedings.
Partey, a 53-cap Ghanaian international, had a successful stint with Atletico Madrid before joining Arsenal. He won the Europa League and La Liga with the Spanish club before his move to the Premier League. Arsenal has been contacted for comment on the matter. The internet has revolutionized the way we communicate, work, and live our lives. With just a few clicks, we can access a wealth of information, connect with people from all over the world, and even run a business from the comfort of our own home. But with this convenience comes a new set of challenges, particularly when it comes to protecting our personal information and privacy online.
Cybersecurity is a growing concern in today’s digital age, as hackers and cybercriminals continue to find new ways to exploit vulnerabilities in our online systems. From phishing scams to ransomware attacks, the threats to our personal data are constantly evolving, requiring us to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding our information.
One of the most basic yet effective ways to protect yourself online is by using strong, unique passwords for each of your online accounts. Avoid using easily guessable passwords like “123456” or “password,” and instead opt for a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. It’s also a good idea to change your passwords regularly to reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your accounts.
Another important step in protecting your online privacy is to be mindful of the information you share on social media and other websites. Avoid posting sensitive information like your address, phone number, or financial details online, as this information can be easily accessed by cybercriminals looking to steal your identity or commit fraud.
Using a virtual private network (VPN) can also help enhance your online security by encrypting your internet connection and masking your IP address. This makes it harder for hackers to intercept your data and track your online activities, keeping your personal information safe from prying eyes.
In addition to these proactive measures, it’s crucial to stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and trends. Keep an eye out for news about data breaches, phishing scams, and other cyber attacks, and take steps to secure your accounts and devices accordingly. By staying vigilant and proactive, you can protect yourself from the growing number of online threats and enjoy the benefits of the internet with peace of mind.
