A former teacher and coach from the Douglas County School District in Parker, Christen Cassic, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to child sexual exploitation. Additionally, Cassic will serve 10 years of sexual offender intensive supervised probation, which includes monitoring of all electronic devices, according to the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Cassic, 56 years old, was arrested in January and entered a guilty plea in September for sexual exploitation of a child, with an indecent exposure charge being dropped as part of the deal, as per Douglas County court records. He had been employed as a computer science teacher and soccer coach at Rock Canyon High School since 2022 and was also an assistant coach at Legend High School from 2015 to 2023. However, he is no longer employed by the school district.
On January 14, a fellow teacher at Rock Canyon High School discovered Cassic watching pornography with his pants down in a classroom, leading to his arrest. Subsequent investigations revealed a significant number of pornographic images, including child sexual abuse material, on a USB drive. Additionally, pictures of students taken in class without their consent were also found, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Danielle Jaramillo expressed that “This case was a profound breach of trust. Today’s sentence delivers accountability and provides a measure of closure for students and families harmed by his actions.”
