John Cena’s retirement tour has been the talk of the town ever since his announcement at Money in the Bank 2024. Fans are eagerly anticipating his final match, and speculation about his potential opponents has been rampant. One former WWE Superstar and TNA World Champion, Nic Nemeth, recently shared his thoughts on who Cena’s last opponent should be.

In a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Nemeth expressed his belief that Cena’s farewell match doesn’t necessarily have to be a passing of the torch moment. Instead of pitting Cena against a rising star like Bron Breakker, Nemeth proposed that a match against Randy Orton would be the ideal way for the 16-time world champion to close out his career.

Nemeth explained that having Cena face Orton, rather than a younger talent, would be a fitting end to Cena’s illustrious career. He emphasized that the match does not have to be about elevating a new star but could simply be a celebration of two legends going head-to-head in the ring.

Randy Orton is currently set to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin. Nemeth suggested that Orton winning the title and eventually facing Cena in his retirement match could make for a compelling storyline. The idea is to have Orton hold the title after his feud with Gunther and then congratulate Cena on his retirement, setting the stage for a title match between the two veterans.

While Cena may have a list of potential opponents in mind for his final match, a showdown with Orton would undoubtedly be a massive draw for fans. Only time will tell if these two former rivals will have the opportunity to square off once again before Cena officially hangs up his boots.

In conclusion, the prospect of a John Cena vs. Randy Orton match for Cena’s retirement is an exciting one that could capture the imagination of wrestling fans worldwide. The storyline proposed by Nic Nemeth adds an intriguing twist to the potential clash between these two WWE icons, and it will be interesting to see if this dream match comes to fruition in the near future.
