France TV Distribution, the sales and co-production arm of public broadcaster France Televisions Group, is set to introduce a captivating young adult drama titled “A Night to Live” at the upcoming Unifrance Rendez-Vous event taking place from September 2-6 in Le Havre.
The series, which is being globally distributed by France TV Distribution, is produced by Wanda Productions, a versatile Paris-based production company known for its work in TV commercials, music videos, photography, animated films, and TV series for various platforms.
“A Night to Live” comprises eight episodes, each running for 26 minutes, and is scheduled to have its world premiere in the French competition category at La Rochelle’s Festival de la Fiction, happening from September 10-15.
The storyline of “A Night to Live” revolves around two teenagers, Mina and Ocean, who find themselves on the same Paris rooftop contemplating suicide. Despite their differing backgrounds – Mina hailing from the tough Belleville district and Ocean from a privileged upbringing – they form a connection and make a pact to give life a chance for one night before making a final decision.
The series is penned by Margaux Bonhomme, known for her acclaimed debut “Head Above Water,” and Victor Lockwood, with Inès Kermas portraying Mina and Anthony Goffi taking on the role of Ocean.
Based on the novel of the same name by Manon Fargetton, “A Night to Live” is directed by Anthony Jorge and Jonathan Cohen-Berry, who previously collaborated on the award-winning series “First Love.”
Addressing the sensitive topic of suicide among young people, the creators of “A Night to Live” aim to shed light on the issue and encourage dialogue surrounding mental health. They emphasize the importance of breaking the taboo surrounding suicide and hope that the series will inspire teenagers to reach out for help and support.
With a delivery date set for the fourth quarter of 2024, “A Night to Live” promises to deliver a thought-provoking and poignant narrative that delves into the complexities of youth mental health and the struggles faced by young individuals in today’s society.
