The Italian phrase “La Grazia,” meaning grace, was chosen by Francesco Scognamiglio for his fall 2026 haute couture collection. This name was selected to emphasize a celebration of beauty at its pinnacle, serving as a tribute to femininity. Scognamiglio drew inspiration from the glamorous women of Studio 54, the iconic New York club from the late ’70s, envisioning their liberated style and expression. Consequently, the collection featured an early ’80s aesthetic, inspired by figures like David Bowie and Madonna, showcased through pastel suits and lingerie-inspired designs.
The collection debuted with a gown crafted from delicate, pale pink ribbons, intricately knotted by hand to form a fragile armor-like structure. Attention then shifted to fabrics that were hand-draped, twisted, and wrapped around structured bustiers, forming a pannier silhouette. A peach top with a matching column skirt created the illusion of a complete gown. Lean dresses were designed with gathers along a central seam and featured three-quarter length sleeves in a lightweight jersey, with a crystal-encrusted version adding sparkle. A pink suit with rounded lapels, evoking David Bowie, was paired with a top that gave the impression of a long bow-tie around the bust, resembling a couture harness. Additionally, a black, slouchy tuxedo paid homage to Scognamiglio’s early days with Gianni Versace, featuring jeweled buttons and dazzling necklaces.
Celebrating beauty, a black see-through organza gown was adorned with hand-cut lace resembling gardenias and completed with volants, as a tribute to Valentino Garavani’s dedication to feminine beauty. The collection concluded with a lavish wedding gown decorated with the same lace appliqués.
