Fremantle, a global entertainment powerhouse, has recently acquired the worldwide production, development, and distribution rights outside Japan for the exciting new comedy game show “Special Delivery.” This unique show was co-developed by Amsterdam’s Blue Circle, a Fremantle company, and Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), a prominent Japanese producer and broadcaster.

“Special Delivery” will be showcased at the London TV Screenings, a major European TV sales platform where Fremantle will present its impressive lineup. Described as an “irresistibly fun comedy competition,” the show capitalizes on Japan’s expertise in creating high-concept entertainment formats based on simple game mechanics.

In “Special Delivery,” comedians are tasked with delivering absurd parcels to impossible destinations under ridiculous conditions. The result is a series of unpredictable deliveries that lead to maximum mischief, laugh-out-loud moments, and instantly shareable comedy content.

Originally commissioned by TBS in Japan, “Special Delivery” debuted in January to great success, capturing the top spot in its time slot with a 28% audience share. The format, which features celebrities in Japan, can be easily adapted for different casting approaches in other countries.

Vasha Wallace, Fremantle’s EVP of global acquisitions and development, praised TBS as a creative partner and highlighted the format’s potential for international appeal. Kentaro Fukuda, head of global IP studio at TBS, expressed excitement about the show’s universal entertainment value and its prospects for reaching a global audience.

Blue Circle, a Fremantle subsidiary based in the Netherlands, is known for producing a wide range of entertainment, daily shows, sports, and lifestyle programming. TBS, on the other hand, is a major media conglomerate in Japan with a track record of successful international format exports such as “Takeshi’s Castle” and “Ninja Warrior.”

With its innovative concept and proven success in Japan, “Special Delivery” is poised to become a hit in markets around the world. Fremantle’s partnership with TBS and Blue Circle demonstrates a commitment to delivering engaging and entertaining content to audiences globally.
