A shocking case has emerged in southern France, where a 72-year-old woman, identified as Gisele P., bravely faced her husband, 71-year-old Dominique P., in court on the first day of his trial. The allegations against Dominique are horrifying – he allegedly drugged his wife to the point of unconsciousness for a decade and allowed scores of men to rape her, filming the assaults between 2011 and 2020.
Gisele, accompanied by her three children, chose to waive her right to anonymity and requested that the trial be held in open court. She wanted complete publicity until the end, determined to face her attackers and the husband she had lived with for 50 years without knowing his dark side.
The police have identified 51 of the 72 men involved in the alleged rape ring, with a total of 92 rapes believed to have been committed. The men are being tried alongside Dominique, who worked for a power utility company. Gisele’s attorneys revealed that she only discovered the abuse in 2020, despite enduring it for a decade.
The trial is expected to be a horrific ordeal for Gisele, as she will have to relive the rapes she suffered over the years. The case came to light when a security guard caught Dominique filming up women’s skirts in a shopping center in September 2020. Dominique admitted to giving his wife powerful tranquilizers before the rapes and followed strict protocols to ensure she remained unconscious. The men involved in the assaults, ranging from 21 to 68 years old and including various professions, were directed to use degrading language on Gisele. The husband both filmed the rapes and participated in them, creating a disturbing and dehumanizing environment for his wife.
Despite the shocking nature of the crimes, Dominique’s lawyer stated that he is ready to face his family and wife, acknowledging the gravity of his actions. The trial, which also includes charges of a 1991 rape and murder, is set to continue until December.
