A 26-year-old fugitive from Washington State was recently apprehended after nearly three years on the run for allegedly strangling his father in the Bronx. Essa Kouyate was charged with murder in connection with the death of his father, Yaya Kouyate, who was found lifeless in his apartment in Charlotte Gardens. The city medical examiner’s office determined the cause of death to be homicide by compression of the neck.
Kouyate, who resided in Seedro-Wooley, was arrested by US Marshals on December 16 and held at Skagit County Jail until he was extradited back to New York City to face charges. The motive behind the killing remains unknown at this time.
The younger Kouyate is currently awaiting arraignment as the legal proceedings continue. The arrest brings closure to a long-standing case and serves as a reminder of the importance of justice and accountability in our society.
