A shocking incident unfolded at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Streeterville, where a woman is facing attempted murder charges for a vicious attack on another woman. The victim, a 74-year-old woman from Wisconsin, was seated in the cafeteria when 64-year-old Lisa Joy approached her from behind and stabbed her twice in the back. The terrifying ordeal took place around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, leaving the victim injured and in shock. Joy also allegedly threatened a second woman, a 56-year-old from Oak Park, with the knife.

According to prosecutors, Joy had no prior relationship with the victim, and the attack was completely unprovoked. She had been aiming for the woman’s back and head, showcasing a deliberate and dangerous intent. Fortunately, Joy was detained at the scene, and authorities were able to recover the knife used in the attack. Shockingly, Joy admitted to committing the violent act, which was captured on video surveillance.

As a result of her actions, Joy is now facing serious charges including attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. During a court hearing, Judge Susana Ortiz expressed concerns about Joy’s mental state, noting delusional thoughts and issues of disorientation. Due to these safety risks, Joy was detained pending further legal proceedings.

This disturbing incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of violence and the importance of public safety. Our thoughts are with the victims affected by this senseless act of aggression. It is crucial for communities to come together to support one another and work towards preventing such tragedies in the future.
