Nichole Schmidt, the mother of Gabby Petito, made a shocking revelation on a recent podcast interview with Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay. She claimed that the parents of Brian Laundrie, the man responsible for her daughter’s murder, had allegedly “gutted and renovated” his room while he was missing. According to Schmidt, she only found out about this new information a few days ago.

During the time when Brian Laundrie was missing, the police were searching for him, and his parents’ behavior raised suspicions. Schmidt claimed that a person who had been at the Laundrie’s house during that time revealed that Brian’s room had been completely emptied and renovated. His belongings were nowhere to be found, and it was clear that something was amiss. Schmidt expressed her frustration and anger at the situation, stating that it drives her “absolutely insane” to think of ways to make them pay for what they did.

Roberta Laundrie, Brian’s mother, is suspected of aiding her son in evading authorities while he was a key suspect in Gabby Petito’s murder. Despite pleas from law enforcement, the Laundries refused to cooperate and provide any information about Brian’s whereabouts. Schmidt, who spoke at CrimeCon 2024, revealed that she had forgiven Brian for his actions but believed that Roberta had no remorse in her heart.

The Petito family believes that the Laundries were aware of Brian’s crime and attempted to cover it up while helping him escape justice. Both of Brian’s parents admitted in depositions that they had concerns about Gabby’s welfare after Brian exhibited erratic behavior following her murder. Brian returned home alone from a trip with Gabby and went camping with his family, including his parents, as the Petito family searched for answers.

Gabby Petito’s body was found in Grand Teton National Park in September 2021, with investigators determining that she had been strangled to death. Brian Laundrie later took his own life, and his remains were discovered in a Florida nature park along with a confession about killing Gabby. The tragic story of Gabby Petito’s murder continues to haunt both families involved, with unanswered questions and unresolved emotions lingering in the aftermath of the devastating events.
