Galeca Names Diane Anderson-Minshall as Executive Director
GALECA, The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, has made a significant announcement regarding the appointment of Diane Anderson-Minshall as the new executive director. Anderson-Minshall, a former CEO of Pride Media, will be the first woman to lead this LGBTQ+ journalism organization. With a distinguished career as a journalist, editor, and author, Anderson-Minshall has held key editorial positions at Out, The Advocate, Out Traveler, and Pride.com, among others. Her work has been recognized with multiple GLAAD awards, NLGJA awards, and the 2016 Golden Crown Award for a memoir.
In a statement released by GALECA, Anderson-Minshall expressed her excitement about taking on this new role. She stated, “I’m thrilled to step into this role and work with our incredible board members and the broader creative community to continue amplifying LGBTQ+ stories. We have exciting plans to elevate the work of our critics, celebrate representation, and connect with audiences in new ways.”
Founder John Griffiths, who established GALECA in 2009 to provide a platform for critics covering LGBTQ+ stories and entertainment, will be stepping back from day-to-day operations. Anderson-Minshall acknowledged Griffiths’ contribution to LGBTQ+ media, stating, “John’s imprint on GALECA and LGBTQ+ media at large is indelible. I’m honored to continue his legacy while ushering in a new chapter focused on growth, innovation, and even deeper engagement with both audiences and creators.”
The newly appointed 2025-2027 Board of Directors includes key figures such as Pulitzer Prize-winning Walter Hickey as president, author and journalist Gerrick Kennedy as vice president, writer and actor Reuben Baron as treasurer, Grace Han as secretary, Triston Brewer as diversity director, Jorgie Rodriguez as membership director, and Shelli Nicole as outreach and social media director. This diverse and talented board is poised to lead GALECA into a new era of growth and impact in the LGBTQ+ entertainment industry.
