A tragic incident unfolded in Humboldt Park on Sunday morning, resulting in one man being fatally shot and two others stabbed during a fight between gang members from Chicago and New York City. According to a statement released by the Chicago police, the altercation took place in the 3100 block of West Luis Munoz Marin Drive around 11:23 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 47-year-old man near a baseball diamond with a gunshot wound to his lower back. Despite initial responsiveness, the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital. He was identified as a member of the Latin Kings gang visiting from New York City.

Following the shooting, two other men sought medical treatment for knife wounds to their head or face at different hospitals. A 42-year-old man sought assistance at Ascension St. Mary Hospital, while a 35-year-old man went to Humboldt Park Health. Both individuals were subsequently transferred to Stroger Hospital for further care.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing gang violence that plagues certain neighborhoods in Chicago. The clash between rival gang members from different cities highlights the prevalence of such conflicts and the devastating consequences that can result from these disputes.

If you have any information regarding this incident or any other public safety concerns, you can contact CWBChicago to provide anonymous tips via email at news@cwbchicago.com.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information presented at local Community Policing meetings. Over the years, the coverage area of CWBChicago has expanded to include neighborhoods such as Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other areas on the North Side of Chicago. Despite this growth, the primary mission of CWBChicago remains unchanged: to deliver original public safety reporting with in-depth context and detail that surpasses mainstream media coverage.
