California Governor Gavin Newsom took aim at podcast host Joe Rogan, claiming he was “punching back” as he issued a candid plea for an invitation to join Rogan on his acclaimed show.
During his appearance on the YouTube program “Higher Learning” this past Friday, Newsom didn’t hold back while addressing Rogan, who had recently referred to him as a “bulls–t artist” responsible for California’s woes.
“Joe, why don’t you have me on the show?” Newsom expressed to hosts Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay in a preview clip.
“He refuses to have me on the show. It’s a one-way street; he invites guests to attack me, but he won’t face me directly. He needs to have me on.”
When asked if he would attempt to hold Rogan accountable for his controversial remarks, Newsom responded confidently.
“I’m not afraid to go after Joe Rogan, that guy is not expecting this kind of confrontation,” he stated emphatically.
“He’ll likely brush it off with laughter, acting tough and all, but will he actually invite me on? That remains to be seen.”
The governor from the Golden State was clearly riled up by Rogan’s recent barbs, which included comments about Newsom’s presidential aspirations.
“You can’t destroy a city, then move on to ruin a state and think, ‘That was just practice. Once I’m president, I’ll make everything right,’” Rogan remarked, later labeling him a “bulls–t artist.”
In a teaser for “Higher Learning,” Newsom shared, “I’m proud to say I’m the only governor who can say this. I’ve endured a lot for it,” to which Lathan responded with laughter, “I love that you didn’t bother to ask if you could curse.”
“Oh, my bad,” Newsom grinned in response.
“Well, starting with Joe Rogan, I might just let loose.”

During the same discussion, Newsom also directed his comments towards the Democratic party, emphasizing the need for voter mobilization.
“Where the hell is the Democratic party? Where is our version of Turning Point USA? It seems to be nowhere,” he declared.
