Gavin Newsom’s presidential ambitions for 2028 are becoming increasingly apparent, as he seems unable to resist the allure of media attention for even a day.

This week, he took the opportunity to appear on the Shawn Ryan podcast, all while California grapples with the aftermath of devastating wildfires that left thousands of homes in ruins earlier this year. It appears his commitment to self-promotion knows no bounds.

Breitbart News reports:

Governor Newsom devoted over four hours to the Shawn Ryan Show, which aired Monday, as his state faces ongoing challenges including wildfires, homelessness, illegal immigration, and a host of other urgent issues.

Despite denying that his participation in alternative media is linked to his potential presidential campaign, this podcast marks yet another step in his outreach efforts. Notably, he has also featured conservative voices on his own podcast.

During the Nashville-based interview, a wide range of topics was covered, from COVID-19 mandates and lockdowns to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, Middle Eastern affairs, Newsom’s upbringing, immigration policy, U.S.-China relations, homelessness, presidential politics, housing issues, his career, pornography, tariffs, and renewable energy.

Interestingly, Newsom’s remarks on California’s wildfires were limited to a self-congratulatory mention of debris removal efforts—largely federal and private initiatives—while he pointed fingers at former President Donald Trump for the blazes on federal land.

In a rather controversial segment, Newsom defended California’s reliance on undocumented immigrants for labor, noting that a significant portion of the state’s agricultural and construction workforce is undocumented. When questioned about whether these workers are taking jobs from Americans, he candidly remarked that he doesn’t see many Americans eager to fill those positions.

Perhaps someone should give him a gentle nudge about moderating his peculiar hand gestures. It might also be prudent for him to redirect some of his energy towards aiding the recovery efforts in his state, rather than chasing after the next media spotlight.
