For a decade, Americans engaged in a political tug-of-war with Donald Trump may find it easy to overlook a critical detail: much of the world has yet to experience the full scope of Trump’s second presidential term. The initial phase of his presidency, particularly regarding foreign affairs, was somewhat moderated by advisors who had the audacity to say “no” to his more outlandish proposals.
However, that safety net appears to be missing in Trump’s current administration.

Today, Trump finds himself flanked by a cadre of supporters who echo his increasingly bizarre ideas, ready to implement his whims without a hint of dissent.
The world is now getting a glimpse of the chaos that the American populace has been grappling with for years, and it is evident that global leaders are at a loss as to how to respond.
In a decidedly early morning post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his bewilderment:
To my shock, our “brilliant” NATO ally, the United Kingdom, is considering relinquishing Diego Garcia, home to a crucial U.S. military base, to Mauritius, and doing so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER. China and Russia are certainly taking note of this display of total weakness. These international powers only recognize STRENGTH, which is why the United States, under my leadership, is now more respected than ever.
The UK’s decision to cede such significant territory is an act of GREAT STUPIDITY and reinforces why Greenland should be on the U.S. acquisition list. Denmark and its European allies must DO THE RIGHT THING. Thank you for your attention to this matter. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
Meanwhile, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Governor Gavin Newsom, a frequent sparring partner of Trump, had some advice for European leaders.
Newsom stated:
It’s time to get serious. No more complicity; it’s time to stand tall and show some backbone. I’ve observed this in the U.S., where Congress often plays both sides.
They say one thing in a text or tweet, and another publicly. It’s time for reform based on principles. Stand tall.
