Occasionally, the audience gets a front-row seat to a live “Where Are They Now?” saga, and it seems we have one unfolding with former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
The signs are unmistakable: a craving for attention, an inflated sense of self-worth, and a tendency to feel victimized.
In a recent episode of Bill Maher’s “Club Random Podcast,” Lemon appeared to be teetering on the edge of obscurity as he recounted two peculiar instances of alleged sexual harassment during his tenure at CNN.
The first tale unfolded in the CNN cafeteria, long ago.
“A young woman pinched my nipples and remarked, ‘Oh, it’s a bit chilly in here,’” Lemon shared in a clip that has since gone viral on social media platform X.
“And I replied, ‘You realize that if I did something similar to you, I’d be shown the door immediately, right? But I didn’t bother reporting it to HR. I let it slide because it’s a double standard,’” he continued.
At this juncture, Maher recognized the triviality of the situation.
“Good for you, because who really cares — ” the host began, only to be cut off by Lemon.
Then, Lemon launched into a vague account involving a divorced female colleague who allegedly harassed him, but he offered no specifics.
“And she was aware of my sexual orientation,” Lemon added.
Unsurprisingly, Maher expressed confusion over the lack of clarity.
“What exactly did this harassment entail?” he inquired.
Once again, Lemon provided no substantial details, seemingly opting for ambiguity.

In April 2023, amid mounting controversies and dwindling ratings, CNN severed ties with the long-time anchor.
Subsequently, Lemon aimed to rekindle his career with a show on X, backed by the platform. However, in March 2024, X owner Elon Musk, who had not yet aligned with President Donald Trump, announced that X would not sponsor Lemon’s show, citing its resemblance to CNN-style propaganda.
Meanwhile, Lemon has exhibited increasingly erratic behavior. Just last month, he shared a TikTok clip showcasing him interacting oddly with unsuspecting subway passengers.
Even Maher has taken jabs at Lemon for his tendency to invoke racial dynamics. This occurred once more during the latest podcast episode.
In essence, Lemon’s current demeanor does not suggest a person whose life is on an upward trajectory. Once perceived as unserious, he seems determined to cling to relevance by doubling down on the same ideologies that have led him to the brink of irrelevance.
Now, regarding his rather vague claims of sexual harassment, two conclusions come to mind.
Firstly, Lemon appears to have an insatiable thirst for the spotlight and a belief in his own importance. Hence, the initial incident involving the nipple pinch has likely lingered in his mind as a grievance.
Of course, one must tread carefully when analyzing a woman who engages in such behavior. However, it hardly requires deep psychological insight to suggest that the woman who allegedly pinched Lemon did so not out of some inexplicable sexual aggression toward a gay man, but rather because she deemed him harmless.
While other interpretations could be posited, the scant details Lemon provided hardly allow for more compelling explanations.
Secondly, and more significantly, Lemon’s claims of sexual harassment, which neither Maher nor any reasonable observer would classify as such based on the information presented, underscore a prevalent modern liberal principle: that claims of victimhood—even if unsubstantiated—confer status, virtue, and moral authority.
Lemon and other proponents of woke ideology exchange narratives of victimization as if they were a form of currency.
Maher is aware of this dynamic. Like many liberal elites, he harbors disdain for Trump. However, unlike most of his peers, he also expresses a distaste for extreme wokeness. This explains his lackluster reaction to Lemon’s accusations.
Ultimately, while Lemon may view his claims as significant, they resonate with the rest of us as yet another indication that the former CNN anchor, already on the edge of obscurity, continues to embrace the woke ideology of perpetual victimhood that has contributed to his professional decline in the first place.
