Ghislaine Maxwell’s brother, Ian Maxwell, recently criticized the British royal family for their treatment of his sister and Ex-Prince Andrew in the wake of Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Ian expressed his frustration with how Andrew has been left to fend for himself, isolated and unsupported by his family.
Andrew’s arrest on his 66th birthday by Thames Valley Police came after allegations surfaced that he shared confidential information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a U.K. trade envoy between 2001 and 2011. Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, has been at the center of a high-profile scandal involving numerous powerful figures.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Ian emphasized that Andrew has not been accused of any sexual misconduct in the current probe. He defended Andrew, acknowledging that his actions may have been “sleazy” and embarrassing, but not criminal in nature.
Ian also reiterated his belief that Ghislaine has been unfairly targeted in connection with Epstein’s crimes, describing her as the “fall guy” for the government and media’s desire to hold someone accountable. Ghislaine was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 after being convicted on federal sex trafficking charges, a decision that Ian vehemently disputes.
Ian highlighted the Maxwell family’s unwavering loyalty to Ghislaine and suggested that feminist groups should support her cause, portraying her as a victim of a flawed legal system. He revealed that Ghislaine is currently housed in what he described as a lenient prison environment and hinted at the possibility of seeking clemency from former President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Andrew has maintained his innocence in connection to Jeffrey and Ghislaine’s activities, denying any wrongdoing. He settled a civil lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of trafficking her when she was 17, without admitting liability. Virginia tragically died by suicide in 2025.
In response to Andrew’s arrest, King Charles III issued a statement calling for a fair and thorough investigation, pledging his family’s cooperation with authorities. Charles previously stripped Andrew of his royal titles and relocated him from Royal Lodge to accommodations on the Sandringham estate.
