Gisele Bündchen, the iconic supermodel, recently declined an invitation from Victoria’s Secret to come out of retirement and walk their runway in the return of their fashion show. Despite her long-standing history with the brand, sources reveal that Gisele politely declined the offer, stating that she no longer wishes to participate in runway shows.
Victoria’s Secret reportedly reached out to Gisele’s team back in June when they began casting for the show. However, Gisele’s camp made it clear that she has officially retired from walking runways since 2020. Although she did make a special appearance for the brand’s Icons campaign in 2023, it seems that Gisele’s runway days are behind her.
Having been a Victoria’s Secret angel from 1996 to 2006, Gisele has had a long and successful career in the fashion industry. Despite her close relationship with former French Vogue head Emmanuelle Alt, who tried to convince her to reconsider, Gisele remained firm in her decision to stay retired from the runway.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made a comeback after a 6-year hiatus, but Gisele’s stance on not walking the catwalk again remains unchanged. While the brand may have hoped for a reunion with their former angel, it seems that Gisele is content with her decision to step away from the spotlight.
