Hulu has just unveiled the first teaser trailer for its upcoming half-hour sports comedy series, “Chad Powers,” starring Glen Powell. Powell, who also co-created the show with Michael Waldron, takes on the lead role of Russ Holliday, a former NFL-bound college quarterback whose career takes a nosedive due to some behavioral issues. In a bid to make a comeback, Holliday disguises himself and joins a struggling Southern football team as the charismatic and talented Chad Powers.
The 14-second teaser gives viewers a glimpse of Powell’s dual roles as both Holliday and Powers, showcasing his acting chops and sporting skills on the field. The series, set to premiere in Fall 2025, promises a mix of comedy and sports drama as Chad Powers navigates the challenges of his new identity.
“Chad Powers” is inspired by a 2022 sketch produced by Omaha Productions and ESPN+, featuring NFL quarterback Eli Manning disguised as a walk-on tryout participant for Penn State’s football team. The show boasts a talented ensemble cast including Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn in key roles.
Executive produced by Super Bowl Champion Peyton Manning through his Omaha Productions banner, the series also features Eli Manning as an executive producer alongside Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN. Waldron and Adam Fasullo are executive producing for Anomaly Pictures, with Luvh Rakhe and Tony Yacenda joining as executive producers. Powell, under his production company Barnstorm Productions, also serves as an executive producer for the show.
