A heroic individual was viciously attacked with a baseball bat while trying to intervene in a fight on a Bronx street, resulting in severe head fractures, according to police and sources.
The 31-year-old victim stepped in when he witnessed two men brawling around 1 a.m. on East 175th Street near Walton Avenue in Morris Heights, authorities and sources reported.
Unfortunately, the situation took a violent turn as one of the men brandished a baseball bat and struck the good Samaritan multiple times, the police stated.
The injured individual was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition with significant fractures to his face and head.
The assailant managed to escape the scene and remains at large, as per authorities.
Law enforcement released images and footage of the suspect inside a nearby barbershop on Jerome Avenue near East 175th Street, hoping to identify and apprehend him.
The perpetrator was last seen carrying a black backpack, wearing a gray shirt, tan pants, a black baseball cap, and black sneakers.
