Google has unveiled a new experimental app called Doppl that utilizes AI technology to help users visualize how different outfits would look on them. This innovative app, available on both iOS and Android in the U.S., aims to revolutionize the way people shop for clothes online.

Doppl allows users to virtually try on outfits using a digital version of themselves. To get started, users simply upload a full-body photo of themselves and then use photos or screenshots of various outfits to see how they would look. Whether it’s a thrift store find, a friend’s outfit, or something spotted on social media, Doppl can bring these looks to life on a virtual avatar.

Once users select an outfit to try on, Doppl generates an image of their virtual self wearing the chosen outfit. Additionally, the app can convert these static images into AI-generated videos, providing a more realistic preview of how the outfit would look in real life. Users can save their favorite looks, explore other virtual try-ons, and even share their new looks with friends.

This new app builds upon Google Shopping’s virtual try-on capabilities, offering a standalone platform for users to experiment with their style in a fun and interactive way. By launching Doppl as a separate app, Google aims to make this feature more accessible while gathering valuable data to enhance future developments in this space.

Unlike previous virtual try-on features that showcased items on a range of models, Doppl allows users to try clothes on an animated version of their own body. While Google acknowledges that the app is still in its early stages and may not always be perfect in terms of fit and appearance, Doppl represents an exciting step forward in the world of virtual fashion.

As Doppl is currently an experimental release, it remains unclear if or when Google plans to expand the app to other regions. However, for fashion enthusiasts looking to explore their style in new and exciting ways, Doppl offers a glimpse into the future of online shopping experiences.
