Removing Google’s At a Glance Widget from Pixel Phones Might Soon Be Possible

Pixel smartphone users may soon have the option to remove Google’s At a Glance widget from their home screen. This widget, while useful to many, has been a source of frustration for some Pixel owners due to its inability to be removed or replaced.

For devoted Pixel users, the At a Glance widget has been a fixture on their home screen, unable to be removed or customized. Despite its functionality, the inability to replace it with something else or simply remove it altogether has been a point of contention for many.

Furthermore, the widget’s significant space allocation on the home screen has added to the frustration of users who prefer a more streamlined layout.

A Glimpse of Change

Recent developments suggest that Google may be addressing this issue. In a pre-release build of the Android OS, a new “Show on home screen” toggle has been discovered in the At a Glance settings.

This toggle indicates that in a future Android update, users may have the ability to remove the At a Glance widget from their home screen. While it may still remain on the lock screen, this potential change signifies a step towards greater customization options for Pixel users.

Requests to remove the At a Glance widget have been ongoing for years, with many users feeling that its permanent presence contradicts Android’s reputation for customizable features. The possibility of finally being able to remove this widget is a promising development for Pixel users.
