Man shot, critically injured on CTA platform in the Loop

A disturbing incident unfolded on Christmas Eve at the Clark-Lake Green Line platform in the Loop, where a man was shot following an altercation with a known suspect. The victim, a 45-year-old man, was found lying outside the station’s entrance on Lake Street after being shot.

According to the victim, the shooting occurred after he confronted a man whom he believed had stolen something from him. The suspect, described as a 43-year-old Black male, was last seen wearing a brown leather jacket and carrying a gun in a small brown Louis Vuitton bag. Shell casings were recovered on the train platform, which also serves several other train lines.

Chicago police have reported that the victim is currently in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, having sustained three gunshot wounds. This incident marks the 14th shooting in the Loop this year, a slight decrease from the previous year. Despite this decline, the number of shootings in the downtown area remains a concern, although it has decreased from the peak levels seen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is important to note that original reporting is crucial in bringing these incidents to light. Support from our readers enables us to continue providing accurate and detailed information that mainstream media may overlook.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the lack of accurate information provided at local Community Policing meetings. Our coverage has since expanded to include various North Side areas, but our core mission remains unchanged: to deliver original public safety reporting with comprehensive context and detail that mainstream media may not provide.
