The Pixel 10 phones and Google’s upcoming flagship smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 4, have been the subject of numerous leaks leading up to the Made by Google event on 20 August. Notorious leaker, Evan Blass, has been sharing new information about the Pixel Watch 4, revealing details about the display, dual-band GPS capabilities, and health features.
The display of the Pixel Watch 4 is said to be named ‘Actua 360’ and will offer up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. The device will also feature dual-band GPS for more accurate tracking. In terms of health tracking, the watch will include ECG, SpO2 (blood oxygen), breathing rate, HRV (Heart Rate Variability), and loss of pulse detection. The battery life is expected to reach 30 hours for the 41mm model and 40 hours for the 45mm model, even with the screen always on.
The smaller 41mm model will be available in Gold, while the 45mm model will come in Silver, Obsidian (black), and Moonstone (dark grey). Additional features include Gemini built-in with AI text suggestions, 40+ exercise modes with real-time stats, a custom run plan builder, and fall detection with automatic emergency service contact.
One standout feature of the Pixel Watch 4 is the offer of two years of free data for LTE models, provided by Google Fi. However, this perk may be limited to users in the US and does not support calls.
Despite the abundance of leaked information, there is still a missing piece to the puzzle. The left side of the main body of the Pixel Watch 4 has not been shown in any leaks, leading to speculation about potentially unattractive charging pogo pins. The new charging dock is said to be 25% faster than previous models and allows for charging on its side, providing a better view of the progress and the time. The design change may also make the device more repairable in the future.
The appearance of the side-mounted pogo pins and how they may impact the overall look of the watch remains to be seen. The color of the watch may also affect how noticeable the pogo pins are visually. It is likely that the true appearance of the Pixel Watch 4 will only be revealed once the device is in hand, as Google is not expected to address potential design flaws during the launch event.
Rumors suggest that the Pixel Watch 4 will be released in October, alongside the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, providing users with a comprehensive and innovative smartwatch experience.
