On Wednesday, Senator Chuck Grassley unveiled a recently declassified document that appears to substantiate allegations against Fusion GPS contractor Nellie Ohr, suggesting she misled Congress regarding her involvement in the Russiagate investigation.
Just last month, Grassley reached out to FBI Director Kash Patel, urging him to release the FBI’s analysis concerning Ohr’s criminal referral following her alleged false testimony to Congress.
It’s worth recalling that Nellie Ohr was intricately linked to the initiation of the FBI’s 2016 “Crossfire Hurricane” probe into then-candidate Donald Trump.
As the spouse of former DOJ official Bruce Ohr, Nellie was criminally referred to the Justice Department in 2019 by House Republicans, prompted by the emergence of hundreds of emails that contradicted her prior statements made before Congress.
A series of endearing “Hi Honey” emails exchanged between Nellie and Bruce Ohr suggested that opposition research financed by Hillary Clinton was being transmitted into the DOJ during the 2016 election through an informal channel established by the Ohr couple.
Previously, Nellie Ohr testified that her work with Fusion GPS involved establishing connections between Trump, Paul Manafort, and Russian organized crime. However, emails uncovered through a Judicial Watch FOIA lawsuit presented evidence that contradicted this narrative.
Grassley’s request to Kash Patel was clear: “declassify the FBI’s evaluation of a congressional criminal referral issued for Nellie Ohr following her false statements made to Congress in 2018.” On Wednesday, the senator released the newly declassified document that appears to confirm Nellie Ohr’s misleading statements regarding her role in Russiagate and Crossfire Hurricane.
This document provides an outline of Nellie Ohr’s testimony and sheds light on the DOJ’s apparent inaction regarding her alleged perjury.
Notably, Nellie Ohr reportedly utilized her husband, Bruce Ohr, as a conduit and provided him with a thumb drive containing Fusion GPS opposition research.

Grassley expressed his frustration, stating, “The DOJ/FBI relentlessly pursued President Trump and his allies but allowed Trump’s adversaries to evade consequences for serious crimes. Today, I am releasing FBI evidence that shows NELLIE OHR lied to Congress about her involvement in the Crossfire Hurricane/Trump-Russia narrative. Yet, the DOJ took no action to prosecute Ohr.”
He further added, “It’s time to unveil and address the POLITICAL BIAS within our criminal justice system. Thank you to FBI Director Kash Patel for agreeing with my request to declassify this document. It serves the public interest, and I am grateful for your assistance in promoting transparency and accountability within the FBI.”
