I see a lot of patients with asthma and COPD, and I think there’s a little bit of a misunderstanding about dry powder inhalers. People think they have to have a really strong breath to take them, but that’s not the case. We have inhalers that are helpful for every type of patient, [including] children as young as 4 years old. And so we have inhalers for everyone. But I think it’s just that the metered-dose inhalers have been around for so long. They’re easy to use, they’re very convenient, and they’re marketed really well. And so I think that’s why they are prescribed more.Â
And I think there’s also an issue with insurance coverage. A lot of these environmentally friendly alternatives are considered high-tier drugs. And so people have to jump through hoops to get them — there’s prior authorization, there’s step therapy. And so I think that’s also a barrier.Â
