A gunfight on a Sunday afternoon in Rogers Park left a 17-year-old boy wounded in the left thigh, according to witnesses and Chicago police. The incident took place on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street around 4 p.m. The teen, who was armed, reportedly returned fire after falling to the ground but no other injuries were reported. Unfortunately, before officers arrived, someone took the gun from the wounded teen and fled the scene with the weapon. Approximately 30 shell casings were found in the area, but witnesses were not cooperative with the investigation.
Police acted quickly by applying a tourniquet to the victim’s thigh to slow down the blood loss until paramedics arrived to transport him to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. Fortunately, the teen is said to be in good condition following the incident. This marks the second shooting in Rogers Park this year.
