Andrade Opens Up About Six-Time WWE Champion’s Health Scare
Andrade, the former U.S. champion, recently spoke out about a health scare involving a six-time WWE champion. The wrestler was released by WWE in September of this year but is now gearing up to compete again this weekend.
This isn’t the first time Andrade has parted ways with the company. After his initial exit in 2021, he found success in Lucha Libre AAA and AEW. During this time, he even made history by teaming up with Ric Flair in what would become his final match. The duo faced off against Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in a special pay-per-view event.
The match took a terrifying turn when it was revealed that Ric Flair suffered a heart attack during the contest. Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda’s Riju Dasgupta, Andrade admitted that he was unaware of Flair’s health scare at the time but was filled with fear before the match began.
“I didn’t know. I know now because I think he said in an interview. I didn’t know [at the time]. When my ex [Charlotte Flair] told me about ‘Hey, what do you think about my dad’s last match?’ I was excited. Everybody knows about Ric Flair, and I couldn’t imagine being in his last match. So when I had this opportunity, I wanted to take it, but at the moment, I was scared,” Andrade shared.
Despite Flair’s health scare, the match continued, and Flair was able to finish it. However, it was later revealed that he had indeed suffered a heart attack during the bout.
Flair, a legend in the wrestling world, is a six-time WWE champion with two World Title wins, three Tag Team Title victories, and an Intercontinental championship to his name.
In other news, Andrade is set to make his return to the ring after being released by WWE. Although he initially appeared in AEW, he was held back by a non-compete clause that prevented him from wrestling elsewhere for a year. However, in his interview with Sportskeeda, Andrade revealed that he will be competing this Saturday in Puerto Rico for WWC Lookout.
Thanks to a deal struck between his lawyers and WWE, Andrade will be able to step back into the ring to face Xavant for the Universal Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming event.
