After the emotional conclusion of “Hacks” last night, Hannah Einbinder has voiced her opposition to Spencer Pratt’s bid for the position of L.A.’s mayor.
“There’s a significant amount of wealth in this city, and many individuals present themselves as Democrats or left-leaning, yet money is their primary concern, which drives them to support candidates like Spencer Pratt—endorsed by Donald Trump,” Einbinder expressed to Variety‘s Marc Malkin during the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television in Los Angeles. “Resisting this is crucial.”
Pratt, known for his role in MTV’s reality show “The Hills,” has rapidly garnered attention in the current mayoral race as he aims to challenge Karen Bass. After losing his home in the catastrophic L.A. wildfires, Pratt has received backing from celebrities and politicians with right-wing leanings.
Einbinder describes her decision-making process as “pragmatic,” choosing to support Nithya Raman over Rae Huang: “It’s very complicated. No one is perfect, and there are no flawless candidates. I am disappointed in many ways, but I have decided to back Nithya, and that’s our plan, ladies!”
When Malkin remarked, “I want to see you run for office,” Einbinder humorously replied, “Neither you nor I want that. No! Spencer shouldn’t run, and neither should I, alright? I’m with Lisa Rinna; I support Lisa Rinna.”
Earlier in the week, Rinna spoke to Variety about the L.A. mayoral election. She admitted uncertainty about her vote, stating, “Not a reality star, though. I love him [Pratt], but we’ve already gone down that path. We’re not doing it again.”
Einbinder has been a prominent voice in Hollywood on various issues, advocating for Palestine and expressing her disapproval of AI. She also highlighted the significance of the L.A. city council election while on the red carpet.
“Yes, the mayor holds importance as they propose the budget, but it’s the city council that must approve it. It’s vital to pay attention to these races as well.”
