South Africa’s victory in the WTC 2025 final against Australia at Lord’s in London saw captain Temba Bavuma making a bold prediction about Kagiso Rabada’s future. Rabada’s stellar performance, which included scalping nine wickets, including a crucial five-wicket haul, was instrumental in ending South Africa’s 27-year-long ICC trophy drought.

Bavuma expressed his belief that Rabada would eventually join the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame in the coming years. This accolade would place Rabada among the likes of former South Africa captain Graeme Smith and Proteas legend Hashim Amla, who were inducted into the Hall of Fame before the final.

In a post-match interview, Bavuma praised Rabada, stating, “KG is a massive player, a couple of days ago I went to the Hall of Fame inductees, I think he’ll be on there in a few years. Came into the game under controversy and did what he did.”

Rabada’s impressive record now stands at 336 wickets in 71 Tests, with 17 five-wicket hauls to his name.

Bavuma also commended the Player of the Match, Aiden Markram, for his outstanding performance in the final. Markram’s brilliant knock of 136 runs off 207 balls played a crucial role in South Africa’s victory. Bavuma lauded Markram’s character and resilience, stating, “Aiden is unbelievable, people have questioned his place, but he has character. He played in true Aiden fashion, he and Rabada have carried the character.”

Markram’s partnership with Bavuma, which yielded 147 runs, was pivotal in securing the victory for South Africa. Despite getting out when the team needed just six runs to win, Markram’s innings was a testament to his skill and determination.

The win in the WTC 2025 final not only ended South Africa’s long-standing ICC trophy drought but also provided an opportunity for the nation to unite. Bavuma emphasized the importance of celebrating the victory as a unified nation, setting aside any divisions.

In conclusion, South Africa’s triumph in the WTC 2025 final was a momentous occasion, with standout performances from Kagiso Rabada and Aiden Markram. As Bavuma’s predictions and praises highlight, both players have showcased their talent and resilience on the grandest stage, paving the way for future success in their cricketing careers.
