The Highlanders delivered a much-needed boost for their coach with an exciting 39-31 victory over the Western Force at Forsyth Barr Stadium today.

This win was a great way to lift the spirits of the esteemed Jamie Joseph, who had recently received disappointing news about his All Blacks coaching application.

After suffering two consecutive losses, including a tough defeat in Brisbane, the Highlanders made a strong comeback with a thrilling performance.

This match was a far cry from the dull encounter between these teams two years ago, as both sides showcased their attacking prowess with a total of five tries each.

Jonah Lowe and Caleb Tangitau stood out with impressive performances, each scoring two tries for the Highlanders. Timoci Tavatavanawai also added some spectacular moments to the game.

Despite some concerns, such as a shaky lineout in the first half, the Highlanders displayed quality attacking rugby that kept the crowd entertained.

The first half saw some entertaining tries from the Highlanders, including a memorable effort from Veveni Lasaqa and a brilliant finish from Jonah Lowe.

Although the Force managed to take the lead at halftime with a couple of well-executed tries, the Highlanders regained control in the second half.

A standout moment came when Lowe scored his second try off a well-placed grubber kick from Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens.

The Highlanders extended their lead with a try from Tangitau, showcasing their attacking flair and determination to secure the win.

Despite a late surge from the Force, the Highlanders held their nerve and sealed the victory with a penalty kick from Reesjan Pasitoa.

With this win, the Highlanders look ahead to a rematch with the Crusaders in Christchurch, aiming to continue their positive momentum.
