Trump Reflects on His Presidency and Looks Toward America’s 250th Birthday
In a spirited address during a Kennedy Center Board dinner held in the State Dining Room of the White House on Monday evening, President Trump celebrated his historic electoral victory and expressed enthusiasm for the forthcoming events next year. His remarks highlighted a mix of nostalgia and ambition as he recounted his first term in office.
As he reminisced, Trump voiced his regret over not being in the presidential seat when the U.S. prepares to host the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics in 2026. “And then they rigged the election,” he lamented. “So, I thought, why not run again and show them what I can do?”
He continued, “That’s exactly what I did. Suddenly, I found myself thinking— I’ve got the Olympics, the World Cup, and we’re celebrating the 250th anniversary of our nation.”
In unveiling ambitious plans for next year’s Fourth of July celebrations, which will mark America’s 250th birthday, Trump articulated a vision that aligns with this significant milestone. On January 29, he signed a Presidential Action dubbed “Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday,” which established a dedicated Task Force aimed at honoring this historic occasion and reaffirmed previous executive orders protecting American monuments.
Trump noted the almost serendipitous timing of his reelection, which coincides with such a pivotal moment in U.S. history. “If they hadn’t interfered and rigged the election, I’d be enjoying retirement right now, doing something else I love. But here I am, with four more years ahead of me. Can you believe it?” Trump added with a hint of incredulity.
Trump: “We’ve got the Olympics and the World Cup lined up. I thought to myself, ‘How will they remember me if I’m not president during these events?’ Then they rigged the election, and I decided to run again. And what do you know? Suddenly, I realized— I have all these major events to look forward to, including our 250th anniversary.”
“Look at how this all plays out. If they had just left me alone and not cheated in the election, I would have been happily retired by now. Instead, they’ve handed me four more years. Can you believe it?”
