In Love Letters, Hilary Pecis brings to life the overlooked and ordinary aspects of daily existence. This Los Angeles-based artist showcases a collection of new acrylic paintings, characterized by her distinctively vivid style. Her work highlights scenes such as a backyard pool, a studio worktop corner, and a cheerful picnic featuring a vibrant strawberry cake.
Pecis often uses photographs as a reference, translating unique instances onto linen. Her technique involves a consistent paint opacity, blending both realistic and intensified colors while paying close attention to texture and patterns. The detailed fronds of a plant, the gleam on water, and the coarse texture of a woven tablecloth all reflect her meticulous approach.
Love Letters will be on display at the David Kordansky Gallery in Los Angeles from May 16 to June 20. In the meantime, more of Pecis’ art can be viewed on Instagram.
