A shocking incident unfolded at the 2026 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta when Stanford University swimmer, sophomore Addison Sauickie, faced a terrifying moment during a race.
While competing in the 500-yard freestyle, Sauickie struggled in the pool, floating face down for a few seconds before managing to finish the race. Afterward, she remained in her lane as other competitors left the water, prompting concerns from onlookers.
Video footage captured the moment when Sauickie collapsed upon exiting the pool, requiring assistance from bystanders and a coach to leave the area. Her condition and ability to continue in the competition remain uncertain as she is still listed for upcoming events.
Stanford Athletics Assistant Director Brian Risso confirmed that Sauickie is being evaluated by the medical team, and her participation in the remainder of the meet is unknown at this time.
